APARTMENTS

Walton hospital began life as a workhouse infirmary at Walton Workhouse which opened in April 1868. It grew to become one of England's largest Poor Law hospitals.

Under the 1929 Local Government Act Poor Law Unions were abolished and so the management of what was by then known as just Walton Hospital, was transferred to Liverpool City Council.
